Megnath Ramesh
What year and discipline are you in?
I graduated in 2018 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I was part of the Co-op program.
Why did you go into engineering?
I was fascinated with computers and electronics from a young age. When smartphones became more commonplace, I found it cool how it changed the way people were being informed. I wanted to build devices like that, and Electrical Engineering was a way to learn the basics.
What do you want to do as a career?
I worked mostly on developing controls software for robots and other cool machines in my Co-op placements. Now I can safely say that I am more of a computer engineer after working at an AR start-up for two years as a Software Developer. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Systems and Control at the University of Waterloo. My dream career is to work in a research team looking to improve state-of-the-art automation using machine learning tools.
What hobbies you have been working on over COVID?
My time for hobbies is limited due to school, but I like playing music on my guitar. I also got into cooking, and I managed to make homemade pasta that was edible.
Do you have a fun fact, skill, or interest?
I was the lead vocalist for the Electrical Engineering Geer week band for two years.
