First day of competition week. Woah, that came up fast. You can tell the team is getting excited as they arrive at the hotel, throw their stuff in the rooms, and go off to explore! By 3:00pm, everyone had arrived and went to go grab food. The few stranglers who didn’t get on the food train went to go get the robot that was shipped to the hotel. Now let me tell you, moving a 600 lb crate is not the easiest thing to do, especially with only two guys pushing it on some furniture dollies through a parking lot and to our hotel rooms. Eventually, the crate arrived at the room and we started unpacking!
The orientation for the competition started at 5:00pm, so while the execs headed off to that, the rest of the team stayed back to assemble Auri in the hotel room. An hour later, I felt well informed as the orientation ended. We made our way back to the hotel room and decided to order pizza. While surfing the internet, I found this pizza place not too far away from our hotel named Alfredo’s Pizza. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to eat a giant 28″ pizza in the USA? Let me tell you, we ordered one and it wasn’t that bad! We devoured that gigantic pizza in no time, had a couple of drinks, and let the epoxy dry on the robot to make sure the penetrators were completely sealed before putting Auri in the pool.
The rest of the night has been pretty relaxed so far, and I have no complaints yet. In a couple of hours the epoxy will be set, and we will be able to test Auri in the hotel pool for the first time in San Diego! Let’s see what’s in store for us tomorrow!
